First, Coral Calcium may or may not be effective at regulating blood pressure but there is not a single shread of evidence to support its use. Based on the database from the National Institute of Health (National Library of Medicine) which chronicals all of the scientific/medical articles produced over many years, yielded nothing when searching for "Coral Calcium" and "Hypotension" together. It is irresponsible to suggest ancedotal information to treat a potentially serious condition.

Vasovagal syncope (sudden fainting) is caused by multiple factors of which low blood pressure is a result rather than a cause. Additionally a slowing of heart rate and other physiological changes occur causing the low blood pressure and then the fainting.

I did find one study that supported drinking a half liter of fluid (Circulation. 2002 Nov 26;106(22):2806-11) which significantly improved symptoms for most patients with positive tilt tests.

I also found that certain training techniques (Clinical Experimental Hypertension. 2003 Apr;25(3):191-8) can be performed to improve the condition (speak with your physician - physical therapists may be able to help).

Finally there is another study (Can J Cardiol. 2003 May;19(6):698-700) that shows that paced breathing can prevent vasovagal syncope induced by HUT (head-up tilt). This finding suggests that respiratory training could be useful to prevent vasovagal syncope (sudden fainting). It appears that several techniques that do not require medication can be helpful for this condition.

Good luck.
