An antibiotic only works if the problem is bacterial. So, if it is a true sinus infection, yes it will work. If it is viral and you just think it is a sinus infection, no it will not. It is good when you take antibiotics to follow what your doctor says, too many antibiotics can make you susceptible to "super bugs". But if you think you need antibiotics, consult your local physician.
Eucalyptus does work wonders, also taking an antihistamine if you have allergies helps to prevent sinus infections. When we get sinus infections, I run cool mist humidifiers to help the inflamed cavities liquefy the mucus and heal them quicker.
Drink LOTS of water, no tea or coffee because they are diuretics they lower your fluids causing the mucus not to liquefy as well. The water keeps you hydrated which helps liquefy the mucous.
Also using saline to wash the sinus
