Hyposensitization therapy is an option for people with just about any type of environmental allergy, including pet dander. However, this process can be costly and might take years (if it works at all). I used to be allergic to cats, but after several years of allergy shots, I eventually became desensitized to them. Now I am able to be around cats 24/7 with very minor symptoms, usually none at all.
