If the pain is not too bad, and there are no otther symptoms, you might wait an hour to see if things change - gas pains seldom stay constant for more than a hour. If nothing changes, then it might be a good idea to go the doc.
On the other hand, if your wife is like mine, I would log off the computer and just go straight to the doc, whether its necessary or not!
