My husband use to take dilantin, for several years then he started having gum problems.We then did some investigating and come to find out long term use of dilantin can screw your gums and teeth up to the point of no return.We were fortunate to find it in time and alot of dentist visits later and several thousands dollars .His teeth are fine.He now takes lamictal and it works much better.Also watch out if they want to switch you to topramax, that made him so tired he couldn
