My husband had a lump in his neck which was quite small. He had a biopsy and it seemed to get a little bigger after that. Yesterday he had a CT scan and they injected a dye into him and now the lump has doubled in size. Is this usual or are we worryi

Yesterday he had a CT scan and they injected a dye into him and now the lump has doubled in size. Is this usual or are we worrying unnecessarily. They told us the GP would give us the results. >

It is unlikely that the dye used in the scan can cause the lump to get bigger.
The scan report should be ready in a few days. It might be available on their (GP) computer.
If you do not hear from your GP soon, rebook an appointment. Sometimes the biopsy process itself can cause bleeding into the lump making it bigger. You are probably worried about it being sinister etc. The only way is to wait and see, and not try to second guess the system. I had an MRI scan recently, which is similar to a CTscan. They thought i had a brain tumour. I had a repeat scan with a dye and it showed that infact there is nothing there. You shoul get another appointment with the Gp, using the lump size as a reason. The GP can then chase the CT / biopsy report. Unfortunatley , the festive season may slow things a litte bit in the NHS.
