Best answer: I also suffer from extreme anxiety. I use to get severe muscle tension in my neck and sholders all the time, and painful tension headaches. What I have found to help the best is excercise. I run on the treadmill for about thirty minutes

I also suffer from extreme anxiety. I use to get severe muscle tension in my neck and sholders all the time, and painful tension headaches. What I have found to help the best is excercise. I run on the treadmill for about thirty minutes a day twice a week and then I weight train for three days. On the weekends I rest and concentrate on relaxation techniques such as yoga, and most of all strecthing! Stretch as often as you can expecially the muscles that are most tense. As you stretch concentrate on your breathing, slowly in the nose and out the mouth (expand these breaths in your stomache not the chest).

I have been doing this now for about four months and my anxiety has greatly improved. Most doctors will try to prescribe anti-depressants and muscle relaxers, but the side effects alone from these medications are worst than the symptoms to me. Screw that!

You have to make a major change in your life style. Start taking care of your body because your symptoms are your bodies way of telling you help! Eat nutritious meals. Think positive even when things seem hopeless. Most importantly stick with it even when it first seems it
